Accident and Sickness Program for Exchanges Health Benefit (ASPE)
As a Fulbright grantee participating in a U.S. Department of State-sponsored exchange program, you are covered by the Accident and Sickness Program for Exchanges (ASPE) during your approved program period. The ASPE Health Benefits Plan is administered by International Medical Group (IMG).
Your ASPE coverage provides benefits for eligible medical care related to sickness and injury while you are in your host country. Your coverage is valid only for the dates shown on your ASPE Identification (ID) Card. There is no grace period after your coverage ends.
Your ASPE ID Card
Your ASPE ID Card is your proof of coverage and contains important information that healthcare providers need to process your medical bills.
Keep your ASPE ID Card with you at all times. You may be asked to show it when visiting a doctor, hospital, or other healthcare provider, including when using virtual or telemedicine services.
Coverage Outside the United States
As a Fulbright grantee in India, you may visit any healthcare provider of your choice. IMG also maintains a network of providers outside the United States. You can search for providers through the ASPE website.
When using a network or direct-pay provider, IMG may be able to arrange payment directly to the provider for eligible services. However, some providers may require you to pay first and then submit a claim to IMG for reimbursement.
Important: Before receiving non-emergency medical treatment, contact IMG when required to confirm coverage and understand whether pre-authorization is necessary.
For Emergencies, do not delay emergency medical care while trying to contact IMG.
If you have a life-threatening emergency, go to the nearest hospital or contact your local emergency service immediately. You do not need to contact IMG before receiving emergency treatment. IMG’s assistance team is available 24/7 to provide support and help coordinate care.
