All Fulbrighters must be affiliated with one primary host institution of higher education approved and listed on the website of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, including institutions accredited by AICTE, UGC and other Apex Level Bodies of the Ministry or Medical institutions accredited by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
The affiliating institution designates one of its faculty members to serve as the faculty coordinator, advisor, or supervisor for the Fulbright grantee. Grantees are expected to maintain regular contact with this faculty member throughout the duration of their grant. USIEF strongly encourages all grantees to initiate communication with their designated faculty contact as soon as the details are shared. For Fulbright-Nehru and Fulbright-Kalam grants, USIEF will cover an affiliation fee of up to US$500, if requested by the host institution in India.
Changes in Affiliation
Once grantees have been affiliated to an institution, they should not request a change in affiliation unless there are compelling reasons to do so. Fulbright grantees obtain project clearance and a visa from the Indian Embassy/Consulate based on the certificate of affiliation. Any change in the affiliation has to be taken up with the Indian Embassy/Consulate and it is up to the Indian Embassy/Consulate to approve the request for a change.
