Fulbright to India Guide – 2021-2022
Maya Sundararajan has close to 18 years of professional experience in a wide range of areas including education, promotion of bilateral trade & investment, and arts management through her work at the United States–India Educational Foundation (USIEF), British Deputy High Commission and at the British Council in Chennai, India. Her career focus has been on fostering partnerships and enabling exchange between countries. At USIEF, Maya oversees the American & Indian Fulbright and Fulbright-Nehru program in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka. Her office also manages the EducationUSA program in Tamil Nadu and Kerala which involves promotion of U.S. higher education and providing guidance to Indian students interested to study in the U.S.
In her current role, Maya manages the operations of USIEF-Chennai office, including planning and implementing of outreach in the region, and also contributes to the India-wide plans. Being a long-term resident of Chennai and having worked in related areas for many years, Maya knows the education landscape in South India and has a good network of contacts. She has presented at education conferences in India and the U.S.
